Reducing Student Drop Rates by 20–25%
Leadership work completed before SK2 Consulting. Each case reflects the named founder’s responsibilities within the organization.
The challenge
A growing education company could see which students were falling behind, and staff offered help, but support was optional. Many at-risk students declined until their problems were much harder to fix, and some dropped out.
The work
Speros started by interviewing students, instructors, and teaching assistants to understand why at-risk students weren’t engaging.
He then partnered with Student Support to make intervention the default. Instead of inviting at-risk students to meet, the team scheduled the meetings for them and used that time to identify barriers, answer questions, and provide direct support.
He set clear ownership for follow-up, escalation, and weekly review across instructors, teaching assistants, and support staff.
The outcome
Drop rates fell 20–25% within six months and stayed there. The process became standard company practice and ran until the company closed.
